Crisp and clear - and you don't have to mess with the settings!, June 5, 2010
By Tate

"First of all the video does not even compared to showing the clarity this screen provides, however I hope it's slightly useful in that you simply will see the dimensions higher as compared to a desk and stuff.

Now regarding this stunning monitor. I admit I've solely been observing it for a few week, however thus far my eyes could not be happier. LED screens are clearly reaching to be the longer term. they appear stunning and save energy and house, and also the screen is thus thin! Setup was a breeze - I simply connected it to my desktop. The monitor comes with each DVI and VGA cables, however since my desktop had an HDMI output I bought a Premium High Resolution 10FT / 3m 24K GOLD HDMI TO DVI M/M CABLE FOR HDTV PLASMA DVD that uses the HDMI from my Desktop into the DVI within the monitor. I doubt i actually required to shop for this, compared the cable with simply the regular DVI to DVI and it still looked nice, though it did appear a splash clearer (it might be my imagination).

Also, when searching around and reading reviews of alternative monitors (especially LED) I noticed many customers complaining that it took lots of setting switches to induce the screen to appear right.. with this monitor (at least for me) the image looked good right from the beginning up. It will allow you to amendment the distinction and such, however i have not dared to mess with them as a result of i believe it's good as is.

About the sound.. I watch lots of films on my pc and hear lots of music, thus imagining employing a monitor's in-built sound system horrifies me, however if you do not care a few prime quality stereo system, I listened to the speakers and they're going to just do fine.

So my overall review is an A+ thumbs up. I spent hours observing monitors at Best purchase and on Amazon and anywhere else that sells them and that i assume I created a good selection with this ViewSonic. Granted, I've solely had it a couple of days, however hopefully I will not ought to revise this review for a minimum of three years (that's how long the warranty is). If you've got the other questions about the screen or would love to examine a special video simply leave a comment and i will attempt to assist you out!

**4 Month Update**
- simply thought i would allow you to guys grasp it has been nearly four months currently and my five star review still stands thus far. fully no dead pixels, and fully no issues. in contrast to alternative LEDs I've seen within the store, the stand on this is often terribly durable and has never even hinted at falling over. My comp does not have a blu ray player, however I watched some 1080p stuff on-line and it's noticably spectacular on this screen. And currently I see Amazon is selling it even cheaper than what I got it ($189) thus i am unable to advocate it enough!"

Nice TV, March 21, 2011
By jaunticed eye John (Vegas, Nv. United States)
"I was craving for a thirty two in. TV to suit in a very cupboard I had created for the lounge. Most TVs during this size are pretty basic and was craving for one thing somewhat additional high tech. This model of Sony match the bill perfectly. The styling of the TV is admittedly nice with a shiny black bezel all around and while not the funny gray band on rock bottom of the lesser 32s Sony sells. The screen is additional of a matte look and is nice in eliminating glare from nearby windows. I purchased the set primarily for the net streaming and to this point this works nice. i used to be disappointed that I had to shop for the wifi adapter for wireless streaming however it works very well. If your lucky to possess your net near the TV you'll plug the ethernet twine on to the TV. I actually have quite a lousy net supplier however it did not appear to result the streaming to the TV. The TV found my home network quickly and connected simply. There was a software update and it did this quickly conjointly. There are variety of websites that return up on the menu as well as Netfix, Hulu, You Tube ,Crackle, Amazon instant movies, Qriosity (Sony library) etc. Qriosity has many movies accessible as well as 3D movies. they're not free but and charge anywhere from $3-$6 reckoning on if you wish customary Def, High Def or 3D. you'll watch the previews at no cost, however, that I did for many hours. the necessity for a blue ray player is questionable as there's such a lot content accessible through these websites. The remote has no keyboard therefore lots of scrolling around for is needed for doing searches on You Tube, quite a pain. I actually have not tried the 3D feature however therefore cannot inquire into this. the image is gorgeous out of the box and needed little or no adjustment by me to create it excellent. The speakers, like most LED TVs are extremely dangerous and a sound bar or external speakers are a requirement. The TV glad most of the necessities I had and at a worth that was quite affordable."

Amazing picture, October 12, 2010
By Terrance Parker (Fort Collins, Colorado, US)
"Just upgraded from Hitachi Plasma 720p 42 in.. after I first got the Hitachi I failed to assume an image may ever recover. Was within the marketplace for an upgrade and spent each day staring at all the 50"+ LED TVs. Where the TV is ready within the store makes all the distinction within the image quality and that they have the mode set to brightest, sharpest, etc..., that you'd not have in your home. Spent the evening researching LED TV technology and came to the conclusion that all of them are similar within the similar worth vary. Toshiba had the deal for two try of 3D glasses and BD 3D player with purchase of TV that knocked out the Sony and also the Samsung i used to be considering. 3D glases are specific for every model can|and can} run you concerning $150 and 3D BD will run you concerning $250...so that was a $550 saving right there.Hook up was a chunk of cake to Sat box and then watched PBS Evening news. If the program isn't in HD, the the massive} image makes the video TOO big and somewhat blurry, thus you have got to scale the image back (easy to try and do with button management on the remote). Started up a recorded HD movie on my DVR, Star Trek 1st Contact...and wow, the detail, colours the black level were wonderful and pretty much as good as any of the Sony and samsung similar TVs I saw within the show space. The Toshiba was a replacement model and relegated to the show space wall with concerning thirty different TVs and failed to show also. I will currently tell you that it's nice.Do not expect nice sound from any LED TV since the speakers got to be little. however the sound is adequate for watching news and traditional shows, however somewhat tinny. most likely will modify with the menu equalizer, however its a do not look after traditional TV viewing. place in USB follow footage and it recognized it immediately and detached to look at photos...fantastic resoultion and photo copy with 8Mp camera...and fast."

"Got this TV a couple of week ago from Amazon and am amazed by the image quality. additionally i really like the sleek profile that works exceptionally well in my Kitchen. I checked out this facet by facet with last years Samsung C model lcd that is heavier, plenty bulkier wanting and, a minimum of within the store I saw them, failed to have as nice of an image quality.By the method this is often listed as "silver" however it's extremely black with clear plastic on the skin edges of the TV. Calling it silver might mislead some. i used to be planning to blow off shopping for it as a result of this however glad I went and checked it out in the flesh. this is often one fashionable wanting TV.The only issue that is to be desired is that the sound quaility. i am not planning to decision it a strike as a result of that is par for the course with this size unit. There are limitiations to each product. it might in all probability value a fortune to place full sounding speakers in such a little profile.
Highly recommended."

Almost perfect , December 27, 2010
By J.Walker (Wisconsin)

"I have owned this tv for less than regarding one week, however here are my early impressions:

I tried 2 completely different HDTVs before buying this one. each were edge-lit LED and each exhibited some clouding and flashlighting (very bright screen within the corners). I took an opportunity on this Sony based mostly on the standard of my past Sony product and comments/reviews from others. I even have not been disappointed.
First off, i'd prefer to praise Amazon for obtaining this TV to me quickly and in one piece. From the time I ordered it to plugging it in was but vi days! Pilot was the delivery company and that i don't have anything however nice things to mention regarding them.

From the instant you are taking it out of the box you have got to love the planning of this tv. The front panel is all glass--no plastic bezel round the outside. it's a handsome tv. it's conjointly quite serious.
I put in it on the included base and it sits on a coffee bookcase. It will swivel and also the base install directions offer some cryptic indication that it tilts vi degrees. undecided this one and that i did not try and force it.
Right out of the box the image is incredibly smart. Setup is {simple} and with some terribly simple image changes you'll be enjoying your tv.
I have windows that are directly behind me as I read the tv, however i used to be amazed that the glare isn't overly-distracting. Yes, there's glare, however it doesn't diminish the read or image quality. Your tolerance for such things could vary. I even have blinds and a curtain I will draw for daytime viewing, and there's no downside the least bit there.
As a 3D tv, the decision remains out. The Alice in Wonderland movie I received within the bundle with the tv doesn't play in my PS3, thus I cannot build an analysis of 3D movies. a handful of 3D games are accessible for the Playstation, and that they look pretty smart, notably Wipeout HD. a really smart 3D expertise. i do not apprehend abundant regarding 3D image quality (cross-talk, ghosting, etc.), however it's pretty cool to me.
You can simulate 3D, however it very could be a poor substitute and does not enhance the viewing abundant. this can be the a part of 3D that's pure novelty.
I honestly do not care abundant regarding the 3D side, as this may take it slow to develop. there's thus very little 3D content out there, it's not value upgrading to 3D if you're pleased with your current TV. I purchased this tv as a result of it's in all probability the simplest 2nd set at this value vary.
The problem I had with alternative LEDs was the edge-lit technology. The brightness was inconsistent. This Sony uses a "Dynamic" edge LED backlight. this can be Sony-speak indicating that it provides a lot of precise management of the LED. there's no clouding or flashlighting or alternative inconsistent bright spots within the image. The blacks are terribly dark and also the bright scenes are vivid, however not overly bright or saturated in color.
The Motionflow 240Hz technology refers to the refresh rate of the screen. it's an improvement over 60Hz found on earlier LCDs, however the majority in all probability couldn't tell the distinction between 240Hz and 120Hz (found on most newer LED/LCD). i would not purchase this tv simply because of 240Hz, however it actually enhances the overall viewing expertise.
Once you activate the tv via Sony, you'll use the net video and audio functions. There are dozens of video applications from Netflix, YouTube, Amazon on Demand, and Hulu+, to epicurious.com, crackle.com, and alternative equally obscure video sites. they're smart time wasters and work fine. I stream Netflix and Pandora and have had no troubles the least bit. I even have it hard-wired for web (I have an unreliable router), however I tested the built-in wireless-N wifi, and there have been no issues.
Additionally there are lots of energy-saving options included (LED tvs are a lot of energy-efficient anyway). Of course, the foremost energy-saving issue you'll do is to unplug it and browse a book.
The Bravia snyc is nice. I even have a Sony AV and one remote can operate them each. you'll run all of your peripherals to the Amp and wish only one HDMI to the TV. Of course, your setup are completely different. I even have an older PS3 that the remote won't operate, however I even have heard that the new PS3 slims will make the most of the Bravia sync (as well as bluray, cd, etc.)
**EDIT** the new "slim" PS3 will use Bravia snyc, and you'll use the TV remote to control the bluray!**

Negatives:
The Internet widgets (not to be confused with the apps) are slow and pointless. perhaps the need improve on that within the future.
You have to shop for the 3D transmitter separately. i do not apprehend why they could not build it into the tv. Yes, the glasses are expensive, however to own to shop for the transmitter too, is an insult. simply ensure you get a bundle deal to avoid wasting some $.
The only alternative negative--and what keeps this tv from obtaining an ideal five stars--is the horrible speakers. I even have heard higher sounding transistor radios. I even have fiddled with the settings over and over, and that i still cannot get a good sound out of this tv. I even have it connected to a Sony home theatre, however do not like power it on only for tv (kind of an energy waste, I think), however generally it's a necessity.

A very long review, however to total up:
Excellent (2D) image, convenient web apps, included wireless-N wifi, and crowd pleasing styling. No early warning flags relating to 3D image quality. Horrible audio. Overall I provides it nine out of ten.

**UPDATE**

I got the Alice movie to figure in my PS3, thus I had the chance to observe in 3D. The impact is incredibly nice. With this explicit movie 3D created it higher. Any movie that uses lots of CGI can like 3D. When watching 3D, the screen gets somewhat darker, thus you will need to regulate your image choices to compensate. I failed to notice it to be a drag as we tend to watched in a very dark area. The glasses are somewhat serious and have become slightly painful on my nose when regarding an hour. alittle piece of froth (like a thick moleskin sort product) on the nosepads can cut back the pain. Also, you can not lie down or maybe lean slightly askew whereas watching, as this may negate most, if not all, of the 3D impact. stay up straight young man! No slouching!
Make no mistake, the 3D remains a novelty at this stage, however having a high quality 3D feature on one in all the best-looking 2nd tvs I even have seen is a new bonus. I highly advocate this TV. I even have bumped the star rating {to five|to five} out of 5 (from 4/5) as a result of the 3D part makes up for the poor sound.
9.5 out of 10! "

Very Impressive. Samsung showing style and performance., April 3, 2010
By J. J. INYoon "wormburner" (IN)

First off, I have had an 40" Samsung for 3 years and have been very pleased with it. It has a matte screen so that is what I was looking for. I really didn't want any glare so I actually was looking at LG's since they are one of few companies that make 50"+ lcds with matte screens. CNET reviewed the LG's with high marks as well so I was pretty much dead set on an LG.

So I went to Fry's, Bestbuy, HHgregg, and local TV shop just checking out the products. I definitely liked the pictures of the LG's. The colors are on par with the Samsungs and the washout from off angles is also better. But I couldn't get over the simple fact that the Samsungs just looked better. Every store I went to I was like yeah there's glare, but when the screen is fully lit you don't really see it, plus you know we all were used to CRT glass screens for years. The LG technically had deeper blacks, but in reality the matte refraction light made the screen seem more grayish and the glossy screens appeared to have deeper blacks due to clarity. Also, the clarity of the images in the Samsungs was noticeably better. Just one of those things you just see and say yeah that's better. For a final look, I brought my wife for her opinion and she point right to the Samsung as the better picture.

So as a matte finish fan and all the technical abilities of the LG's I had to go with the Samsung. Beyond the amazing picture the style is so much better. So thin, lighter, and the UN55c6500 has a great thin border, actually charcoal matte, with a nice clear trim. Looks so clean.

I've read where some people have said that the picture is so good that it almost looks 3d. I have to agree, playing some video games and bluray, the picture is so good it does almost look 3d.

I also got the wireless dongle (free with purchase) and it works quite easily. No issue thus far.

There definitely are reflections, but glare isn't really too bad. I also did see the rainbow effect from my ceiling lights, but only if in direct view. The motion plus still makes everything look soap opera, but being able to turn it down helps a lot. Samsung has more settings for this than LG's.

I am very pleased with this buy.

Excellent television!, July 9, 2010
By chesterjesse
This review is from: Samsung UN46C6500 46-Inch 120 Hz 1080p LED HDTV (Black) (Electronics)
"We did many analyses before finally selecting this specific TV, and that we couldn't be happier with our choice. The image quality is outstanding. We tend to terribly pleased with the LED edge lighting. It's a sensor to work out ambient light-weight and adjusts the strength of the backlight accordingly, that ought to save lots of electricity over the lifespan of the TV. The sound quality is good, though I expect we'll be investing in a very Surround Sound home theater system within the close to future. Setup was terribly simple. All user interfaces are terribly intuitive. The user is ready to create several, several changes to the image, though to be honest we tend to re anxious concerning messing things up therefore we left everything on the "Home" default setting. This TV integrated flawlessly with our Samsung Blu-Ray player permitting everything to be controlled with the TV remote. We tend to additionally love that this TV is networked-- we tend to use the Netflix and Pandora apps on everyday.
A major selling purpose of this TV for us was the aesthetics of the terribly slim style, and that we weren't disappointed. This unit is THIN! The graphite-colored frame round the LCD screen is additionally quite slim, and a thin, clear acrylic band runs round the entire frame-- a cultured touch that doesn't show up well in photos of the unit. We are also terribly pleased with the stand. Its chromed X form is completely different from most stands that are a flat black plastic pedestal, and that we are more than happy with the method it's.

Overall, a wonderful TV, and that we highly suggest it."
